I graduated from Cornell University in 1997. My lifelong fascination with dog behavior has led me to become a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and the Director of Training at Biscuits & Bath in New York City. Dogs have always been a part of my family. At 10 years old, I used a golden retriever training book to teach my dog Buckwheat a few basic commands. I was immediately captivated by the process and the results. During the time I was training him, I became his favorite member of the family!
Several years ago, I adopted Eli, a border collie/husky mix, from the SPCA. At the time, he was a stray with no former training. Using professional techniques, I taught him everything from housebreaking to long-distance recall. As a result of great training, he is now a great dog. (Eli was featured on ABC-TV's Live with Regis and Kelly as a top 10 finalist in their Mutt America Pageant.)
I have trained many different kinds of dogs (and owners!) including shelter dogs, therapy dogs, deaf dogs, rowdy 8-week olds, and stubborn 11-year-olds. My training services have been used by Discovery Channel, VH1, Target, and L’Oreal. In addition to authoring the training curriculum for Biscuits & Bath, my work and advice has been featured in The Star Ledger, on the Joan Hamburg Radio Show, and in Hatherleigh Press' recent book on helping your dog stay fit, My Fat Dog.
From crate training to clicker training, I can offer you many different ways to teach your dog and solve behavior problems. Every situation is unique. My approach is to determine the best method or solution for your specific dog and your specific situation. My methods are always humane to both dog and owner. I believe that training is most effective when you are having fun and setting your dog up for success. Take a look at what my clients have said about their training experience with Have A Great Dog.
Call or email me with any questions you have about your dog or training. I love what I do and would be happy to talk to you about your dog!

MAKING THE CONNECTION
This is me with Eli, our border collie/husky mix. We adopted him from a shelter in 2002. He loves training sessions. When it’s time to learn something new, his ears are perked up, his eyes are wide and his tail is wagging.

ADOPTION OPTION
So many great dogs are in shelters right now, waiting for a loving owner to bring them home. I strongly encourage responsible shelter adoptions. By responsible I mean that you should take whatever time is needed to determine which dog is the right fit for your living situation. With an educated and patient approach, you can find an amazing companion.
